Lake Yahuarcocha–a famous historical site just outside of Ibarra. The
name is Quechua (indigenous language) for “Lake of Blood,” and it was
named such after a battle between the Incas and the Caranquis, the
indigenous people who lived here at the time. Volcan Imbaburra behind, which Emily and I climbed a few months ago. Ibarra is the small city between the two. |
