Alangasi 5km

Maria won a local 5km race last Saturday. Won the biggest trophy ever (nearly 1 metre) in the smallest race ever! and 60 bucks. Dad and kids came in last :)
Listened to mom's radio interview last night on Pantera 960 am
Had lunch at Jean's after, who lives right in the plaza at the finish line. She is married to an Ecuadorian, teaches year 2 at BSQ and is going back to Toronto next year.

Ilalo hike

6 hours! Bit more than we'd bargained for! Maria carrying Ramon on her back for bit in the baby carrier as opposed to the backpack carrier....it was a bit tough on her! I carried Carla most of the way up and Ramon most of the way down. Ilalo is 3200m...we started at about 2300m...it's an extinct volcano, surrounded by many active ones.
The second photo is Ramon ready for his 1st day of school! There were a few tears for a few days...now he's as happy as can be :)

Losing things

A blog entry sans fotos? Yes indeed.

In the past few years, Maria and I have lost a number of items. For awile, I chalked it up to old age, but lately I think it has more to do with the fact that life is more complicated with kids. So I'm blaming it on Carla and Ramon. For example...packing up to go for a hike was a simple affair....grab a quick bite to eat and chuck a few items in the pack, with a quick check of the hiking check list on the fridge. Now...it's trying to do that while feeding, toileting two kids while keeping them ammused. In other words...running around in circles, chasing our tails and eventually around 8am, as opposed to 6am, we make it out the door.

What have we lost? ....a nice big umbrella on the bus yesterday....Ramon's sunglasses on a ridgetop last week....a camera in a taxi....Maria's wallet in a taxi...$25 bucks worth of groceries I left on the front seat of a taxi.

And so it goes....Now where did that damn dog dazer get to?

What we did on our Christmas holiday 2009-10

4. Played in the hot springs.
5. Watched llamas.
6. Saw some hot flowers
7. And some other funny flowers
8. I just love doggies!
9. Saw some of historic Quito
10. Played a game with my brother
11. Went hiking above our house….that’s Cayambe volcano in the background….it’s right on the equator!
