Volcan Rucu Pichincha 4698m
One minor volcano scramble this holiday. Goes like this....taxi from 2300m to 2900m....Gondola to 4050m....and hike to 4698m. Takes a little over 2 hours to hike up and 1:15 down. This is the volcano above Quito that erupted 10 years ago and dumped 2 inches of ash on the city. Super clear day with views south to Chimborazo and north to the Colombian border. Maria, Chris, Mafe, Ramon and Carla stayed at the top of the gondola station, while Carlos and I hiked up and ran down.
