The new addition to the TZ fam. Introducing Mango...or Mr. Mango...or el gato. Got him about 2 weeks after Ron died, when an off leash dog chomped down on him whilst savory the green, green grass of Calgary beside out condo. We didn't get a cat before b/c of Ramon's slight allergy, (we tried one for about a week, 3 years ago) but now that he's a big boy and off to uni, he can make his own decisions. So far it doesn't seem to be affecting him too much. So off we went to the city of Calgary pound/animal services to check out Rodney who became Mango. Came with all the shots, spaded, licence, tatoo etc. The deal is that the kids, who wanted to get a cat, pay all the costs now that they have jobs.
He was so desperate to get out of the pound cage, that he rubbed hair off his nose on the bars.Mango checks out Bean.
Bean's previous owners must have had a cat, b/c he doesn't seem to mind Mango and his childlike antics.
Isn't that just the cutest cat photo....ever?
kisses?
Poor Bean is not getting as much attention as before....
Fox guarding the hen house?
City said we could return him if it didn't work out. How could we ever return him?
So it turns out that Mango loves to go for walks/hikes! He did 6km up 500 vert metres on one hike! I didn't think a cat could make it 100m without getting sidetracked in the weeds....which he does occasionally.
Loves going for rides too.
He wasn't impressed with this borrowed cat backpack.
He'd much rather be out on top.
Hike to Elbow lake
Leading the way
"You guys can keep your backpack...I'm walking just like you."
awww
Visit to the vet across the street, where they still had a record of out cat Chico from 20plus years ago, pre kids.
He likes this one from the used Meow store. Much more open air.
....loves the ocassional climb
His reaction to the new pack. Couldn't keep him inside the 2nd one. |
Just so no one gets confused between fruit and cat.
Fast food
...same for the kids. Never seem 'em so excited about a hike😆
He sure gets the kids out and away from their screens! We'll take that as a win :)
Leaping up the rocks in McGillvray Canyon
Mango the rock climber
High on the chockstone
This cat goes everywhere.
...and if he does get too tired.....
Bean is still loved.
"I didn't know she was old enuf to drive!"
Mt. Burke fire lookout in the background. Next objective for Carla and Mango and maybe Ramon too.
Picnic in the flowery meadows of Grass Pass.
Cat on a hot tin roof/eavstrough. A screen on the window fixed that escape route.
...as did chicken wire on the patio fence.
Kids say he's worth $40 each for a floor to ceiling tower!
I could be mean....but I wasn't.
Puuurrrrsian Empire :)
